The Cell Cycle Laboratory (ccl.med.upatras.gr), School of Medicine, University of Patras in Greece and the European Program SYNTRAIN (syntrain.ku.dk), invite applications for one (1) PhD student position.

Position Description:

We are looking for a bright and highly motivated candidate to join our interdisciplinary team studying pathways maintaining genome integrity in human cells and their misregulation in cancer. Cells with aberrations in DNA replication licensing factors will be used in synthetic lethality approaches to identify pathways essential for cancer cell survival under replication stress. Advanced live-cell imaging will be combined to genetic approaches for the functional characterization of the identified pathways, while compounds targeting licensing factors will be characterized in vivo and in vitro as antitumor drugs for breast and ovarian cancer.

Candidates must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers after the Master degree, and they must not yet have a doctoral degree at the time of the appointment.

Candidates can be of any nationality but must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Greece for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start date of the fellowship. This excludes short stays such as holidays or compulsory national service.
